Distant sea lanes.

November 17, 2008

The Taliban is making serious attacks upon our Afghanistan supply line from Pakistan through the Khyber Pass. Afghanistan, of course, is land-locked - surrounded by countries holding varying degrees of unfriendliness to the U.S. incursion. Whether it is good for the U.S. to be there or not, it is clear that a blockage of the Khyber Pass will make our position much more difficult.

and, in a more literary vein.....

The Collins English Dictionary has added the word "meh" to its publication. Fans of The Simpsons, world wide, are jubilant.

Hey, Jim,
I am all set up and can comment on your blog. Regarding the blocked route, what is the source? This reminds me of the "Highway laced with IEDs" story I watched while in Iraq. The reporter reported a main highway was closed to any traffic due to IED attacks. I had been on the route all day, and there were no incidents. I will look into this, since I will probably be going to Afghanistan after my next trip to Iraq... I will look up some of my sources and if I find info either way, I'll let you know. Have a great day.
